Road marking - Side strip/ No Parking and Stopping/ Driving lane [ Japan driving ]

This is 3rd times for the road markings ( painting).

You can see everywhere on the Japanese roads. So, I hope you drive carefully in Japan. This time, I will explain the 3 markings( lines )

  • Side strip
  • No Parking and Stopping
  • Driving lane



[ Side strip ] Mandatory, Better, Good

You should drive a vehicular lane. Side strip is for cyclist and pedestrians.
Japan roads are not separated between Vehicles and pedestrians. So, take care another pedestrians and traffics while you driving.
Side strip

[ Side strip- No Parking/ Stopping ] MandatoryBetterGood

You should not parking and stopping here for pedestrians and others.
They are 2 types, one is two line painted, another is one line painted and dotted lined. Please take care when you are parking or stopping.

[ Driving lane ] MandatoryBetterGood

As followings, There are 4 types for driving lane. Basically they are same and you should keep one lane. And, should not frequently change the lanes.
Important point is the rightest lane is for overtaking ( in the 2 lanes or more cases ) 
You can see many Japanese drivers who continually drive the overtaking lanes. This is a violation of traffic laws. Thought I think the similar rules to another countries, I would like you to keep in your mind.
